Sally Weiner was born April 5, 1958 in New Orleans. A short year later, her family moved to Texas where she spent her childhood freely exploring the desert and Gulf coast landscapes. She knew from her earliest memories that she was an Artist, and that she wanted to express what moved her through color, light, and form. She began showing her work during her college years and as a result had the good fortune to travel through Italy and France on a Ford Foundation Grant won from an art competition. In 1984 Sally earned a BFA in Sculpture and Painting from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. Along with the Texas landscapes she has also enjoyed traveling through Mexico, the Caribbean, Alaska, and the southern United States. She strongly feels these natural environments and their wildlife heavily influence what she cares about, how she sees, and what she's drawn to paint. "The natural world is my inspiration and I feel so very privileged to explore it through my art." Sally Weiner currently resides in Chicago with her family and menagerie of animals, where she paints daily for shows and commissioned work. |
